Mechanic Weston Area?

Fellow Rioters,

I’m looking for an inexpensive and reliable mobile mechanic in the Waramanga / Weston Creek area to replace the fuel pump in my Ford Festiva.

I cannot start the car, which is at my residence, so it is not possible for me to take it to a garage.

I have a new pump, but am wary of replacing it myself.

Thanks in advance for recommendations.

Would recommend Lube Mobile to anybody requiring mechanical work on site.

My thanks to all for the suggestions. I bought the replacement pump on eBay. It arrived yesterday afternoon (Tuesday). This morning I rang Lube Mobile. Nice young bloke called Dean turned up at 10am, replaced the old pump (it was in the tank), the car started first hit, and I was back on the road by 10.45am. Cost: new pump + postage $60, Lube Mobile $160, total $220. Very happy, especially as garage quotes for new pump + labour were $300+, and this was on top of a towing fee of $88. Would recommend Lube Mobile to anybody requiring mechanical work on site. Again, my thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Much appreciated.

…and if you are an NRMA member you should be able to get a free tow for up to 20km.

I’ve used Lube Mobile to replace a starter on our old Tarago – they did the job fine, and thieir parts price was reasonable. The labour was was a bit higher than I’d normally pay at a garage, but then I hired them because they would come to me with the workshop, so I think that price for the service provided was fair too.

Having said all that I’d be calling in a favour from a friend to help tow a little car like your Festiva to Russell at Fisher Car Care too.

I use Russell beside the Fisher Shops. Seems good. Fisher Car Care Centre at 82 Kalgoorlie Crescent. 62882211. Need to make a booking though. I guess you could ask whether he could organise a tow for you.

not quite the Weston area, but close. I highly recommend the Repco service centre at the Village Creek Caltex petrol station at cnr of Drakeford drive and Marconi Crescent. He has serviced our cars for years. When we have tried other mechanics, we always came back,

Every single mobile mechanic/auto electrician/etc i have used have turned out to be time wasters.

If your car is unable to be driven, a tow truck can take your car to a proper mechanic with the equipment to do the job properly.

I’ve never used them but it sounds like a job for Lube Mobile.

Alternatively, are you an NRMA member and could they do it for you? Unless access is tricky I can’t imagine it’s a terribly difficult job.
