Meet Andrew Leigh

In a functioning democracy we’d get to know a politician before they’re elected. Once elected they might communicate with their electorate via local media.

But still, it’s nice to see that those of us who want to get to know the member for Fraser, Dr Andrew Leigh, can now enjoy an 1,800 word essay in the Sydney Morning Herald.

It’ll sit nicely with his speech at the Opera House.

Less: http://www.abc.net.au/elections/federal/2010/guide/fras.htm That’s not surprising though given that long-standing MPs have a large personal vote which dissipates when they retire.

Um … yeah, you sure did show him up. I bet he was pissed off for days.

It doesn’t matter. Mickey Mouse could win the seat of Fraser as long as he was the Labor candidate.

Did he get more or less votes than Bob?

I had a spotty student knock on my door on his behalf the Sunday before the election. I told him if he wants my vote, Andrew Leigh can damn well have the decency to knock on my door himself or doesn’t he work weekends? I didn’t vote for him, I’d never heard of him before that.
The day after the election (on the Sunday), Mr Leigh was at Lake Ginninderra having a BBQ with all his sycophants, posing around like he was Lord Muck and patting himself on the back. I walked past and completely ignored him while he tried to make eye contact and smile at me. Haven’t laughed so much in ages.

Safe Labor seat, he can look forward to a Superannuation pension indexed to average weekly earnings unlike many of his constituents who slowly slide into poverty with pensions indexed to CPI.

Are you seriously suggesting that Leigh didn’t campaign in Canberra prior to the election? From memory, this site contained several stories about events which he attended. Or are you just trolling?

his campaign was so low key as to be subterranean, matched only by the indifference of his opponent.

That’s gold.

When he becomes PM, he can eschew the lodge and live in Kirribilli House
