Are you interested to do something to decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness?

Mental Health Advocacy is a movement that aims to:

1. Promote the well-being of individuals diagnosed with mental disorders;
2. Reduce discrimination and stigmatisation;
3. Uphold the rights of individuals diagnosed with mental disorders; and
4. Assist individuals diagnosed with a mental disorder to be productive members of the community.

If you are a supporter of the aims of mental health advocacy then please go to http://psychdev.anu.edu.au/_special/Mental_Health_Advocacy_Movement.asp to join a forum and share your views with others who have similar beliefs! Alternatively, if you use Facebook there is a Facebook site you can request to join (http://anuedu.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7572277594).

This group is part of an honours research project in the School of Psychology at the Australian National University which is examining the use of online environments to educate people in the wider community about the Mental Health Advocacy Movement. The ANU Human Research Ethics Committee has given ethics approval to conduct this research (Ethics Protocol 2007/0238).

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the researcher on u2563118@anu.edu.au. Thank you very much to everyone who is interested in this and is going to participate!!! Please note that the research for this project has to be collected by April 13th.

Thank you to everyone for their positive feedback.

I have extended the date to April 13th (both because of a need for a few more participants for statistical reasons, and to give a few people who have told me they would like to take part the opportunity).

I must admit I’m not sure what the problem is with the questionnaire…usually if you just keep going to the ‘next’ page the last one has the ‘submit’ option instead. If anyone else has this problem can you please let me know…

good cause, good idea. best of luck with the research. When does it end? you say the 13th above but the 6th on the facebook page and i couldn’t find a submit button on the questionnaire

I have recently been a part of this programme and thoroughly recommend doing the survey.

many kudos to ‘researchstudent’.

🙂
