ice

It only got down to -3 last night, compared to -5 the night before.

But the frost was still spectacular, puddles were iced 10mm thick and a none-too light website editor was able to walk across them. Sullivans Creek was iced over.

The Bureau has no respite in sight:

A high pressure ridge extends across NSW and the ACT maintaining cool and dry conditions across the local region. A cold front in the Bight will move through southern NSW on Wednesday, bringing a few showers, chiefly along the ranges to the west and south of the ACT. The ridge of high pressure will re-establish itself over the region for the remainder of the week with fine, cool days and cold, frosty nights forecast to continue.

Sunday morning is forecast to be merely freezing. The rest below.

It’s really OK to run your heaters in these conditions. And to find some company under the doona.

Well I was in bed with electric blanket on under dooner!

Is this where I jump in with a brag about having a passive solar design house that gets up to 23 or more every sunny day without any artificial help? 😛

U have a good looking hound JB

Oh, I was looking for the Frosty doona company slideshow.

Yesterday I took the boganmobile up to Sydney. The tonneau cover had a lump of ice on it I never dealt with before I left at 06:30. Barrelling up the highway the other side of Marulan, there was a white flash in the mirror. I had time to look up and see the ice fly off then smash on the ground behind me. It was cool.

Well I was in bed with electric blanket on under dooner!

Hehe the shopping trolley pic is a classic!

– 7.6 for Tuggeranong according to BOM weather station in Isabella Plains.
Barely got below -1 in the City though.

For anyone camping at Mt Ginini (I’ve heard people do), was a nice -10, with the apparent temperature -18.4.

‘Twas mighty fresh playing touch footy last night in just t-shirt…2 or 3 degrees.

Fairly standard to be scraping ice off the windscreen in this weather but yesterday after scraping ice off the outside of the windscreen I had to scrape ice off the INSIDE of the windscreen.

Nothing like going for a walk in the morning in dark clothing, soaking up the sun when it’s less than zero outside.

I like clear frosty mornings too. I don’t like having an office desk that feels like I have my hands placed on an ice block, haha.

Yep – BoM says it was -6.7oC in Tuggers at 6:10am. For comparison, Perisher was -7.3oC and was 2oC warmer by 9:40am!

The difference between the freeze at Perisher and the freeze at Tuggers/Canberra is that they have wonderful snow there and we don’t.

It’s like a birthday cake without candles.
Like good red wine without nice blue cheese.
Like JB without a camera.

I didn’t make my usual 5AM visit to Tuggers pool this morning. Yesterday was bad enough cold-wise. Besides, I caught a bad chill & sore throat so I had a legit excuse for not going.

It was -6 at 7am in Torrens this morning – pretty damn cold.

Couldn’t feel my hands walking to the bus. Then I could. I’m not sure which was worse.

Great shots! I love the hairy leaf!

Yesterday morning I revelled in crunching my mountain bike thru many frozen puddles at Stromlo. The sun was out, so it was alot more pleasant than last year’s fog-all-day-max-4-degrees. Got back home after 11am and pulled a disc of ice nearly 1cm thick out of our bird bath, and we are half way up a hill away from the coldest spots.

It was -6 at 7am in Torrens this morning – pretty damn cold. Had to pour hot water into the dog’s water bowl to melt the ice!

Hurray for company under the doona!

Plus if you actually like the guy then a frosty morning will seem happy and magical like your super gorgeous pictures. I particularly like the frosty leaf but I’m not at all a fan of the shopping trolley dumpage which is NEVER pretty!
