Facebook brings word of a fascinating performance at The Street later in the month:

The Street Theatre and Min Mae presents;
STILL STANDING

…the body is deeper than the soul and its secrets inscrutable. – E.M. Forster

Still Standing unearths the autobiographical body in a primal excavation of the human heart…

Still Standing is a rare opportunity to look into how each emergency or joy, shapes and rattles our bones – emotionally impacting the physiological self and vice versa. Experimenting with the human animal’s most essential means of communication – the wordless gesture, performers Jordan Best, Alison McGregor, and Michael Ellis undergo Min Mae’s trials of influence – exposing the moments or events in a human life that push it inexorably towards its future – mapping a pathway through vulnerability.

In a series of moving snapshots, Still Standing sees the bodies and lives of these three people laid bare; mapping both the exceptional, and the circadian experiences within a human life.

A multi-form piece, Still Standing combines live music – performed by Guitarist Geordie Malone and Violinist Natalya Bing – with distinctive theatrical elements, in order to interpret the rich and complex history of its performers’ lives. Through a process akin to emotional contagion, the performers ‘exude’ their stories, and each thread is ‘felt’ or ‘absorbed’ by the viewer. In an empathic exchange with the audience, the performers strip back the layers of clothing, ego, and language in a quest to rebalance the mind/body battle – revealing something deeper by far than flesh.

Apparently being able to write very, um, esoterically, is a pre requisite to performance art nowdays
