Fans of Doctor Horrible will be intrigued by today’s ABC story warning of a terrible new drug:

“Police says the pills are small and are either red with a horseshoe imprint or green with a capital R.

The 24-year-old man is still in hospital in a stable condition.

>And when you are out, keep an eye on your drink! It’s not that hard.

Actually It is that hard. Two years ago my boyfriend had his drink spiked.
– It was his first drink of the night.
– It was a beer, in a bottle.
– It never left his hand.

After seeing what happened to him i shudder to think what may have happed had the same dose been given to somebody smaller or less fit than him.

About as interesting as noting “not everyone here thinks the same”.

On pushbikes none the less, now that’s advocating safe drug use at its best!

Interesting that on this forum, some are condemning recreational drug use, while the forum itself is promoting a “Bar Crawl”….

Also please feel free to look into who the biggest supporters of anti drug NGO’s in the US are/ have been and you’ll find something very interesting 😛

Most drug companies are terrified of weed because many people find it a very good and most importantly cheap solution to kemo side effects. Their drugs cost thousands and can be just as dangerious yet are legal.

Companies like Fosters are terrified of pills because a night of binge drinking might mean one person spends over 100 dollars on alcohol. A pill which costs around the price of a beer in some parts of europe can give hours of fun with much less side effects.

For those that want to look up the study i mention it was led by Prof David Nutt from the Bristol University.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17760130/
is an artice about it, the BBC also did a very good documentary about his research.

A recent study in the uk pegged alcohol as the 5th most dangerious drug, cigarettes around 7 i think??? and E at number 18! If you like a drink (even the 4 Rudd says is okay) stop ragging on people who like pills.

While yes he should have tested the pill for PMA we still shouldn’t give him crap. He was careless and is now paying the price. Leave the guy alone.

@bd84 and VY berlina…. E IS almost harmless fun if you test the drug for PMA and drink water in a controlled manner. Period. MDMA alone kills very very few people (if any in recent years). If E were a government regulated drug you would see alcohol related violence dropping off dramatically. Big boof heads that usually start fights would be hugging people instead. A properly made pill has orders of magnitude less known short and long term health effects then many legal drugs. People die from E because they do not drink water properly or the person who made the pill either cut corners or didn’t know what they were doing. Virtually no other reason.

While there is a few obviously possible long term health effects of E, cigarettes and alchol have extreme long term effects (usually death in one instance) and they are still legal.

As i said a moment ago elsewhere if you don’t know what you are talking about shut the hell up!

You have my sympathy DJ.

Nobody made him take the pill did they?

Sympathy for stupidity? No thanks. It isn’t given anywhere else is it? Any use of a drug for an unintended outcome (or perceived outcome) is looking for trouble. To take something that was made in a back yard lab or some bikies garage or some overseas drug den is beyond stupid and there is little room for sympathy except for the family and emergency services members that have to deliver bad news and bury a loved one.

“How about you have a little heart for someone who has done nothing wrong to you or anyone else?”

Haven’t they? Please consider why the law states that this behaviour is illegal, how the drugs came into the country and then consider the whole supply and demand circle and then tell everybody how it isn’t bad for society.

If people feel the need to have drug induced experiences then they deserve what they get when they have a bad trip and end up in hospital. Yes we know alcohol can be damaging in huge quantities over a long time but who in their right mind is going to swallow a small pill with a horseshoe or capital R printed on it!!?
.

How about we cricise the insane laws which give over the production of a harmless social drug to the criminal world, thereby guaranteeing it gets adulterated and becomes a threat?

What does it say about someone who takes the time and trouble to publicly critisise a person in hospital through missadventure? Perhaps their self esteem is through the floor or mummy didn’t love them enough

Or we criticise idiots who think drugs like ecstacy are harmless. The perception that the natural chemical compounds that make up the drug would otherwise be “safe” if they weren’t made up by “criminals” is utterly rediculous and misguided. While the side effects of taking it once may do little damage if you’re lucky, you still run the risk that it may kill you.

This guy may be unlucky (or lucky not to be dead), he deserves little sympathy for his own stupidity in making the decision to take the pill.

That said, what I will never be able to understand though is the stupidity of people who buy,or just take, on trust a pill from someone for a quick buzz. Everybody knows that these pills are ‘cooked’ in a hastily set up kitchens by unqualified idiots after a quick buck. Yes, everything in life comes with a risk but taking these pills is, IMO, just stupid.

I am frankly amazed at the stupidity of people who take this crap. And when you are out, keep an eye on your drink! It’s not that hard.

I know there are people who think E is harmless fun, but I disagree.

I feel very sorry that the guy is in hopsital and hope he makes a quick and full recovery.

I can’t see these ever becoming legal though, sorry PB. BTW: which part of England are you from?

Farnarkler, it’s quite possible he just enjoys the effects of E.

Anyway, the Sunday times goes a bit more in depth and mentioned that it has caused him to suffer ‘muscle wastage’ and that it will be a long road to recovery.

They also speculate that it could of been PMA, but I haven’t ever heard of muscle wastage being associated with that.

The guy must also have chomped on a number of pills that night if they have to mention two different types of pills.

Insane!

Would you be saying someone who has a night out and has their drink spiked deserved it? Everything has an associated risk and not everyone acts in a manner that reduces these risks – that doesn’t necessarily mean they ‘deserved’ it, you schaudenfraudesque motheruffer. This accident would’ve been easily avoided with a pill testing kit and perhaps a review of second hand reports from other users.

Also alcohol can be fatal in a short time if you ‘overdose’, particularly if you have not built up a tolerance, have easy access or aren’t familiar with your limits.
