He is described as Caucasian in appearance, 168cm (5’6″) tall with a slender to medium build and has short dark brown hair. He is wearing a black faux leather jacket, black pants and a red, white and blue check shirt.

But the Wombles were very interesting, i dont know if they are still there and i havent checked in a long while. But they were freaky deaky to the max. They would come in to Questacon to use the toilets or to clean up in the washrooms.

Which is very different from living in the toilets as you originally claimed.

The rest of it sounds like the usual moral panic. It MIGHT happen, therefore it MUST happen

Not really, i said that they lived in the public toilets and they came into the centre to use the facilities that were obviously either not working or non existant in the toilet that they lived in. So it is not different at all. Back to you….

I stand corrected

Never saw it myself, but i do remember the family that lived in the public toilet there…..we called them the Wombles.

Eh?! Tell us more!!! One vagrant, OK, but a family of them?

What were the abduction attempts? Pedophiles on the prowl, desperate childless people, or non-custodial parents? (Or the usual white slavers).

Like i said, i never saw any of it. But we were warned about it happeneing, I suppose that it would have been parents using it as an opportunity to get a child during separation procedings. There were a few old men who would regularly come down during school excursions but they seemed harmless.

At 1745, as dusk pressed quick against the placid waters of Lake Burley Griffin, two AFP Officers on 500HD quad bikes cruised past me near Yarralumla Nursery. They were off-roading through Weston Park with their headlights on. I was about to drive home, but suspected I was witnessing the Governor General’s crack protection team in action. So I followed them in my car to the end of Weston Park Road and stopped to chat. One mentioned they were looking for a child separated from a school group and was not too stressed about the situation. Assuming it was the same kid they were searching for, it is about one hours walk to there from Questacon.

My only point being: quad bike, motocross helmet, goggles, plus a side-arm. AND a fluro vest.

Seriously cool job.

Awesome. I had no idea the Governer General’s crack needed that much protection!

I did a stint of security there in 06′ and they told us when we were briefed about the place that on average there was at least 1 abduction attempt there a month.

This should be as a main feature of “Questacon at Night”.
Sounds like there is more to Questacon than meets the eye.

I was doing bootcamp near Questacon while the police were searching the area for the boy. Apparently he punched a Questacon employee before he ran off.

great news on the outcome. hope he is well.

“He has Asbergers syndrome and selective mutism”. – Should be Asperger’s Syndrome!

Upon first reading “missing 15 year old boy” i though wtf, he’ll survive.

Then kept reading.. poor kid couldve been scared as hell 🙁

good to hear he has been found. How stressful for everyone.
