Missing Cat

My dear cat is missing – I am posting here in the hope someone may have seen her.

She has been missing since Sunday night. DD and I have spent almost 30 hours in total walking the farm looking for her. I think the most likely scenario is that she has jumped in somebody’s car, fallen asleep and is now somewhere else. If anyone has seen this cat, please please call me on 0264524418 or email numeralla@bigpond.com.

Here is a picture of her http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=547389110
(I am sorry I can’t work out how to get the image into this post)

Gee some of you people are nasty on here, showing dead cat images and making smart arse comments.
Numerella probably wishes she never posted on here.

Numerella I have cats that mean the world to me, I hope your cat returns to you soon:)

Headbonius, what bugs me the most about this, is that you actually stopped on the Monaro Highway, walked up to the dead cat, took a photo, continued on your merry way, went home, uploaded the image to a photo site, and then uploaded that image to RiotACT.

There are a number of different ways you could have done this. A quick check on facebook to compare cats is one? A brief description of the cat is another. I saw a dead cat the other day, but I’ll be buggered if I’m gonna stop and take photos of it, guts and all. A description of the cat would have been enough. In this case, black and white, domestic short haired, and perhaps a better description of where it is located.

Heaven help any person that receives devastating news from you! You’re about as subtle as a brick sh!thouse. And no, the warning didn’t help. You know people will look, that’s why you did it.

God help you.

Dear Numeralla, I traverse the Monaro Highway regularly going down to the Ingeegoodbee river and surrounds. Saw this the other day.

Hope it is not yours

el, nobody is ‘blaming’ anyone, t’was merely an observation.

This site is for everybody. Newbies, not-so-newbies, and the regular rioters who often make a point of being regulars by spelling it out to us ‘newbies’. I’ve been here about a month, and I still have no idea how to post a pic. I’m a member of about half a dozen other forums, and the instructions are clear in those. Jazz is now onto it, and that makes me a HAPPY CHAPPY.

We need simple step-by-step instructions on how to:

1. Post a URL link to an external website
2. Post a pic from an external website (need to tell us the legalities surrounding this)
3. Post a pic from your computer (a personal jpg). If we need to save it to photobucket or something, then we need to know that too.
4. Find page 2, 3, 4 etc of threads (especially if we have forgotten what the title of an old article is?

Ah, and the CODE button for adding URL links only appears when you post a brand new thread. The CODE button doesn’t appear when replying to a thread. Perhaps it should?

Yes, I would have posted this reply in the thread we had last week about the new version of RiotACT, but I can’t for the life of me find it anywhere. I like RiotACT. I have learnt a lot about goings on around Canberra since using it. It can only improve from here when the admin people get the time, amongst their real lives as citizens of this lovely city we live in.

Cheers

I’m not sure that it’s allowed in the comments, Ant.

I know I’ve done it when submitting a new article using the EMBED tag.

actually, i’d like to know how to post actual pictures, rather than a url that someone has to click. On weatherzone, you format it with IMG things around it, and the picture pops up (but is hosted on another site).

It’s a bit much to blame the forum/admins about this…

ok ok , i’ll work on some instructions for posting pictures, but in the interim, the picture you are posting MUST BE ON THE INTERNET FIRST. if you put a link to an image hosted on your PC then it will show up in the preview on your computer because it can find the image locally, however the rest of us will be stuffed.

I think (unless soemthing’s changed) that you have to have the shot hosted on another site, and then give the url to that picture?

CanberraResident10:33 am 30 Mar 08

ha!, and this from two experienced Rioters!! Imagine how the new folks feel not being able to post a pic?

You sure it works in preview and you’re not stuffing it up?

If you’re right, then take a look at it mods, the preview function isn’t much good unless you can test out HTML and stuff in it!

Aaaaaaarggghhhhh I give up! Google html tutorial for info on posting pics. Hope you find your cat.

Felix the Cat10:18 pm 29 Mar 08

Stupid html, it works in preview but not when you post.

yourcat.jpg (but with a / before the i in the second

Hi Numeralla, I love cats. I went as far as Royalla today. There was a dead cat on the new Gungahlin Drive Extension today; just near the Aranda turnoff; it was white with some grey colouring … poor little puddy. I am not a member of Facebook either (and never will be), so I can’t see your cat either, sorry, but I do understand about not knowing how to post a photo on this site; can’t find the instructions anywhere … certainly not under Posting Instructions.

Is the cat desexed? Back in 1996, my 6 month old boy cat (undesexed at the time) went wandering for nine days. NINE days I tell ya! He turned up at the door, meowing. The next day he was neutered by the vet. He’s now 12 years old and sitting on my lap. They do wander even if they’re desexed sometimes. Your puddy cat will come back! I can feel it. All the best.

thanks to the people wishing me luck. She disappeared from our farm between Canberra and Cooma. Many of our neighbours had visitors from Canberra. She loved going in cars and had a habit of jumping in car windows and falling asleep.

To the people writing nasty comments, what sort of people are you to be nasty to someone who is sad about losing her cat?

And btw, what makes you think she is doing damage because she is on a farm? In my experience, there are fewer birds here (other than eagles, cockatoos and crows – none of which she catches) than in suburbia. There are many other things people do on farms that are detrimental to wildlife than having a cat. Eg people who shoot everything that moves – it is quite sick the pleasure the people I know who do this are. Also, illegal rubbish tips on some farms are very detrimental to wildlife.

Seeing as i have no idea in which part of Canberra / ACT / Australia you lost her, it does make it difficult to know where to start searching.

However, I hope yr. feline friend turns up.

On a farm hey? One more stray cat out killing wildlife. Sorry, but as a cat owner who keeps their cat confined because I’ve seen the damage cats do in the wild, I find it hard to be sympathetic…

I hope you find your cat! She’s a gorgeous looking cat.

mmmm roof chicken

Call the Canberra RSPCA and they will put her details up on the website. You can email them a photo and they will add that as well. This is generally the first place that people look (or call) if they find a cat or dog.

We had a gorgeous cat who used to go walkabout regularly. Sometimes she went down the drains and couldn’t get out again so she would be gone for ten days and then come home looking like hell. Every time we had her listed on the website and a couple of times she was found that way. Alas, she went out one day last February and never made it home. You never know with cats though, I still half expect her to show up at the back door…..sigh…..

Good luck finding her.

I sincerely hope you find your cat.

It’s up to the cat now.

Are you drunk ?

Not much good for people without facebook btw. Hope you find her though.
