ACT Policing is investigating six burglaries which occurred on Thursday morning (24 February) in the Gungahlin area.
A number of items were stolen during the burglaries including flat screen televisions, game consoles and cash.
Police located two vehicles believed to be involved in the burglaries travelling together in the Gungahlin area. Both vehicles had earlier been reported as stolen. Police followed both the vehicles but lost sight of them near Northbourne Avenue, heading towards the city.
A shortly time later both vehicles were located outside an address in Ainslie but fled the address when police arrived. Police activated warning lights and siren and engaged the vehicles in two separate pursuits.
A short time later both pursuits were terminated due to the offenders’ dangerous manner of driving. One pursuit lasted for two minutes and reached a maximum speed of approximately 120km/h. The other pursuit lasted one minute and reached a maximum speed of approximately 150 km/h.
One of the vehicles was later found abandoned in Ainslie. The other vehicle, a purple Ford Festiva, is still outstanding.
A warrant was executed on the address in Ainslie where a number of items believed to be stolen were located. Police are continuing their investigations.
