Monaro Highway grassfire

The ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service are conducting mopping up operations at a grass fire along the Monaro Highway, Theodore.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

Four units and two commanders are on scene.

Flames reached more than two metres in height.

The fire has now been knocked down and is contained.

It is approximately 50m x 50m in size.

Crews are withdrawing from the grass fire along the Monaro Highway.

Three ACT Rural Fire Service units are conducting blacking out operations, as several tree stumps are smouldering.

The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.

Firefighters expect to remain on scene for another half hour.

Numerous calls were made to Emergency Triple Zero (000), the first was at 1:30pm.

ACT Policing is investigating the cause of the fire.
