Monash home blazes up

A house has been extensively damaged following a fire in Monash this morning.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the blaze in Griffin Place just before five o’clock.

Firefighters arrived to find the property fully engulfed in fire.

Three fire pumpers, the breathing apparatus support crew and commander responded to the scene.

The fire is extinguished with crews now mopping up and ventilating the house.

5:30 AM

No one was inside the house when firefighters arrived.

ACT Fire & Rescue has initially assessed the cost of damage from the fire at $300,000.

The cause has been determined as suspicious.

The scene will be handed over to ACT Policing for further investigation.
