Wow!

Rioters you’ve outdone yourselves this week.

I have a grand total of 37 photos which I’ve had to sort though, edit, crop, etc, etc…

Well done gang.

1. Tim kicks this week off:

Almost every time I come past this spot, someone is parked here…

ONE

2. Smee’s keeping an eye on things:

This guy came screaming into the Homeworld car park, against the flow of traffic, lept out then sauntered into Aldi.
Awesome effort.

TWO

3. Rugbyskier has been thinking of us:

Thought you might like this parking gem at Queen Elizabeth Terrace this morning. At 6:20am the carpark is busy with early morning exercisers and this young lady decided to show off her skills by straddling two spaces almost perfectly down the centre.

The parking spaces are already quite wide due to the curve of the road but obviously not wide enough for the Miss Astra.

THREE

4. Genie’s photo raises a question. Are people everywhere bad parkers, or does Canberra make them bad?

South Australians can’t park either.

Taken out the front of NAB in the CBD.

FOUR

5. PITCHKA sends us a shot of one of Canberra’s fanciest car parks:

New bike lanes make for a great parking space.

FIVE

6. Ms. Cheeky says there’s an app for this:

Here’s a bad parking app. Pretty funny. It’s not just rioters who like to point and mock.

http://www.spotsquad.ca/

And from a wide selection that I took at the Hyatt a recent morning, here’s a couple of fine examples.

SIX SEVEN

7. Gregory has been finding us some new readers:

Narellan Pl, Tuesday night. four of the five motorcycle spaces were filled with cars. I politely informed the silver car they were in motorcycle parking space when they arrived. They came back to confront me when they saw me photographing. Long story short, now they know about Riot Act. And I didn’t get beaten up.

EIGHT NINE TEN

8. P sent us this classic:

There was a car in each spot just either side of this car but out of shot.

ELEVEN

9. Goosepig took in some theatre, and some bad parking:

From outside theatre 3.

TWELVE

10. Jason spotted this little gem:

THIRTEEN

11. Ian speaks truth:

Money can’t buy basic skills.

FOURTEEN

12. Thebusdriver seems to have come across a rich vein of poor parking, and has wasted no time in tapping it:

Anzac Park West. The no rules car park sees people park wherever they can fit their car. On trees, on garden beds, on the footpath, in front of no parking signs.

FIFTEEN SIXTEEN SEVENTEEN EIGHTEEN NINETEEN TWENTY TWENTYONE TWENTYTWO TWENTYTHREE TWENTYFOUR TWENTYFIVE

A friend of mine spotted this in Queanbeyan around midday on Saturday. That is some Smart parking. Very cheeky but well if you’ve got it, you may as well use it. At least the Smart was in the lines unlike the ute and trailer.

TWENTYEIGHT TWENTYNINE

The last two were taken at the bottlo in Queanbeyan, sorry for the poor quality. This ute was parked half way out on the road, with a 3-4 foot pole sticking out the back of it. It took up a full lane of traffic. It was a wonder no one hit it.

TWENTYSIX TWENTYSEVEN

13. Matt scored us this shot:

THIRTY

14. Paul0075 is an international parking super spy:

I snapped this shot whilst working at Fyshwick Fresh Food Market on Sunday.

THIRTYONE

15. KB1971 solves problems with words:

This one isn’t that bad, I had just had a friendly chat with with a guy in a black ute who was completely blocking the entry to the cycle lane, the second one this week.
If I get one of those I will definitely be sending it in.

THIRTYTWO

16. Sheep Groper is concerned:

Near the Woden discount chemist right next to the zebra crossing on Sundays is a fruitful hunting ground, especially since there’s lots of free parking just around the corner. The illegally parked cars make it difficult to spot darting rugrats as you approach.

THIRTYTHREE

17. Andrew plucked these from a reliable tree:

Both outside the belconnen churches center.

THIRTYFOUR THIRTYFIVE

18. Dilandau finishes us off this week by echoing Ian’s thoughts, and visiting a 7-days-a-week long celebration of bad parking:

One is a porche from belconnen mall. Apparently money can’t buy you parking skills.

One is the gift that keeps on giving, Jamieson Mall.

THIRTYSIX THIRTYSEVEN

Phew.. I’m done.

Nothing wrong with the Smartb car parking or the ute and trailer – efficient use of space by both.

And given that the Smart will be reversing out while trying to see past the car to its left, and not trying to see past the ute and trailer to its right, it shouldn’t be excessively dangerous.

But yeah, they should have reversed in, and so should we all, because cars turn more effectively reversing than forwards. But we’re all lazy most of the time!

As a Smart Car owner I can attest that this is a very dangerous way to park. You simply can’t see if there is any approaching traffic when you try to pull out. You have no option but to back out blindly, which doesn’t get you much respect.

Wow, a driver of a Smart looking for respect! Most drivers of Smarts I’ve seen don’t appear to care what other road users think… it’s great news to hear of an exception!

I hate smart cars … but I will make an exception for the one in Quangers. Top effort 🙂

So why not reverse in that way, then?

That’s what I was thinking. I was about to accuse Barcham of using his copious free time to edit them out. However, look at the first photo at #17, right up the back, at the left. I think there’s a yellow van.

So Spotto (?)

Nah,you’re drawing a longbow there Poetix however in #4 the Monaro coach has a very distinctive yellow stripe.

I thought that but having actually performed a rego check on that vehicle in a previous life I can assure you its green & gold. Patriotic but not yellow I am afraid.

And people think that requiring bicycles to be registered will cause cyclists to obey the road rules! 😉

No, people think that requiring bicycles to be registered will cause cyclists to suffer.

Which is what every right thinking person wants.

Isn’t it?

Re number 8, my car was parked legally in front and I was preparing to go out and take the same pic from the opposite side of the road when p left the adjoining table with the same intent. Btw, P what was the sizzling dish your table ordered? Smelt great.

That second last one (teh black porch) isn’t a mistake – it’s a wanker’s park – they purchase an expensive car then live in a state of paranoia about it being touched by some lesser vehicle.

If you spot a car parked like that, I think it’s a nice to snuggle your car up next to it, particularly if your vehicle is a little beaten up.

It’s a 996. It’d be lucky to be worth $40k.

White is the new yellow.

I’m going with the Great Wall in yellow in #16.

I don’t usually comment on Monday Parking, but seriously #1 WTF. If he just rolled forward he could squeeze into the 5 min zone behind the Focus….

No. 1 is very common -because its right out the front of the Post Office, many people use it as a quick dash in and dash out spot -but rest assured, the parking inspectors do monitor it regularly…not that I’m talking from personal experience or anything….(whistles innocently…)

Jamieson Mall?

Someone has been shopping after a few Irish Whiskies?

I don’t see what’s wrong with the ute & trailer in 13th photo of #12 though – doesn’t appear to be over the lines as suggested. Yes, the driver is using two spaces, but he is towing a second “vehicle” in case you hadn’t noticed.
