The Canberra Times lets us know that two mainframes (really?) have failled at the prison knocking out the electronic security infrastructure on which the facility is based.
Staff sources said two computer mainframes controlling security infrastructure failed about midday on Saturday, creating a security nightmare at the jail.
They said the incident affected all electronic infrastructure, including surveillance cameras, door locks, retina scanning devices and prisoners’ electronic ankle and neck tags.
Another employee said perimeter security was also wiped out, forcing guards to conduct regular patrols on foot of the jail’s border.
Someone’s made a pretty penny selling the ACT Government duff kit and one imagines someone else will make another one fixing it.
Simon Corbell is onto it.
