Andrew Barr has the thrilling news that he’s spending nigh on a million dollars in government money to try and prop up the sacred cows of Canberra’s hotelliers:
This latest marketing activity by Australian Capital Tourism includes a partnership with accommodation and flight booking provider Wotif.com designed to increase awareness and drive visitation to Canberra during the next few months.
The campaign with Wotif.com is in response to a longer than normal Federal Parliament non-sitting period in the lead up to September’s Federal election which provides an additional challenge to the accommodation sector and the wider tourism industry.
The Wotif.com campaign will run during the first two weeks of July in four key visitation markets: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia and will include a competition element.
Tourism’s research indicates that special deals providing added value, coupled with a sense of urgency to book, are key drivers for encouraging people to consider Canberra as a short break destination
