Mothra, the sometimes enemy sometimes ally of Godzilla has been spotted attacking a lady at Shepherd’s Lookout.

Ben_Dover got some shots.

Walking the dogs at Shepherd’s Lookout this morning, when a lady, who was clearing some invasive weeds down there, introduced me to this monster.

Anyone know what type of moth it is? Very big body and a 4 inch wingspan.

Y’all need to get out more often, these are neither rare nor hard to find.

The reptoids are near.

I’ve seen half a dozen of these around my place recently. I saw one flying along as I was out on my morning constitutional, and it took me a second to realise that it wasn’t a bird. They are *huge*.

or perhaps it is Mon Mothma…
“many boffins have died trying to name this moth”

Here for the mooseheads star wars party perhaps?

Are these also known as the Emperor Gum Moth?

Thanks noaddedmsg, that’s the one, beauty!!

Possibly this: http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/hepi/atripal.html

I have been finding pupae cases sticking out of the ground lately (as is shown in one of the photos) – they are freakishly large.

That thing needs nav lights and a strobe on it…

Tremendous
