Chic Henry for Motorist Party

We got this in from Chic Henry & the motorist party last night. Not to be outdone by the squabbling and finger pointing by the major parties Sumernats doyen Chic Henry has waded in accusing both Liberals and Labor of pinching the more progressive policies of the Motorist Party

Media Release : It has come to our attention that our damn good ideas for progressive thinking in Government have been picked up by the other Parties. For example, The Greens say they’ll create a Small Business Commissioner and said so on the evening news (WIN and ABC Monday 8th October). The Motorist Party presented that idea three weeks ago and that’s not the only one someone has plagiarised from us. The Motorist Party should be pleased because it’s said that “Imitation (plagiarism) is the greatest form of flattery”.

By the way, we sent Media Alerts out, containing the plagiarised, practical suggestions, on the 5th, 11th, 14th and 18th of September and 12th October with some more still to come.

Practical and Realistic. That’s us!

Chic has been busy on the TV tonight. How is he going to deliver on cheaper petrol? I know he has a snow-flakes chance in hell of being elected but I am curious as to how he was going to do that

Especially since the Cth has legislative competency in relation to excise…

Cars that run on salt water! TM -Me . So now if anyone ever comes up with this again you are all my witnesses that the idea is mine. Make cheques out to cash.

Just how are minor parties and independents supposed to stand any chance if it’s ok for the larger parties to take their policies and call them their own?

Open source is great, if the creator decides that their idea can be use by anyone. Anything else is just theft.

This ignores two things. One, as Peitab says, what if two parties actually come to agree on something? Is that banned?

The other, is the assumption that just because the Chicky comes out with a policy to reduce rego, doesn’t make that policy some new and unique idea that no one ever thought of before, to be protected from plagiarism in order to encourage ideas by allowing people to profit from them.

It is not a clever new touch screen music player or a better type of cheese grater – it is lowering those costs that your core group of (potential) voters have the greatest interest in.

Surely the entire point of running for government is to get your policies in place. If other parties (notably ones who actually might win…) adopt your policies then mission accomplished. Stop whinging, you’re getting what you wanted!

While it would still be better for them to gain a seat to have an influence outside of the pre-election period, getting policies adopted by the major parties is a win that should be applauded rather than decried.

Pirate Party supports the free exchange of ideas, which is at the core of our national platform on copyright and patent reform.

If any other party wants to adopt Pirate Party policies, be our guest.

So in essence, what you are saying is that if I’m someone who has spent my own money on an attempt at winning a seat in parliament, and one of the other parties takes one of my platform promises and calls it their own, that I have no reason to complain?

So you’re saying that two parties can never legitimately agree on an issue? If you take that thought to its logical conclusion, no party that doesn’t hold an outright majority could ever get legislation or parliamentary business enacted.

The motorist party must be planning a big last week to be any chance, I wonder what chic has brewing with the sexy tshirts?

Chic, traditionally, organises strippers for the last night yeah?

Is “Show us yer tits” part of their platform?
