Overlooking the beautiful Majura Valley, Mount Majura Vineyard, the Canberra region’s only winery located within the ACT, is celebrating the winter season with ‘Truffle infused Weekends’. It is the perfect way to get an introduction not only to the wines on offer at the vineyard but also to try truffles.

If you have never tasted the much talked about and oft adored fungi, Mount Majura Vineyard is offering a homegrown winter tasting experience. Available every Saturday and Sunday until late August at the cellar door, a flight of wines is expertly matched with truffled brie. It is a gentle introduction to the world of truffles, paired with delicious cheese and exquisite Mount Majura Vineyard wines.

Fresh truffles.

The brie itself is velvety and moreish, combining deliciously rich triple cream brie cheese with truffles from the vineyard’s next door neighbour, The Truffle Farm. Fresh every week, Mount Majura Vineyard picks up a delivery of fresh truffles which are then layered in the brie. It is then left for a week to infuse into the cheese, ready for serving on the weekend.

To accompany this gastronomic delight, Mount Majura Vineyard will be pouring a flight of three 80ml glasses matched with the truffled brie including wine from the cellar. The tasting will be served individually and will cost $35 per person.

While you nibble on the truffle brie, you will be poured a glass of the 2017 Silurian. A traditional method sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir. It is dry, and has a lovely lime freshness and provides a perfect start to the tasting. Next on the flight menu is a 2017 Chardonnay with fresh, vibrant flavours. Its creamy complexity has been chosen to match the triple brie cheese.

As a special treat, each week a different Vintage Pinot Noir will be poured. The Vineyard’s older pinots are mature in flavour, with hints of fig, dried herbs, spice and earth to complement the earthiness of the truffle.

The tasting is topped off by the beautiful Vineyards views on offer and the fact that $5 from each tasting will go to Raw Potential Canberra, originally known as Youthcare Canberra. Raw Potential aims to empower disadvantaged youth by providing non-judgemental support and opportunities for a bright future. It helps break the cycle of poverty and sets up clients on a course that allows them to realise their raw potential and worth.
