In just under an hour Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Andrew Barr, in conjunction with Canberra Off Road Cyclists (CORC), is due to announce that Canberra has won a bid to host a round of the 2008 UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP

The round is to be held at Stromlo Forest Park.

If you want to hear the announcement for yourself you better be quick; it’s at 11:30am today (Monday 6 August 2007) down by The Deck (Regatta Point), Barrine Drive, Commonwealth Park, Canberra.

I know what the putters like 😉

I’m surprised Ntp posted this story ahead of Kramer 🙂

Ahh, good to see the UCI actually making the ‘world cup’ a world cup and not just stay in the northern hemisphere. We just need more bodies out to help volunteer on the working bees…*hint hint to all those who ride but don’t build!*

Hmm, I wonder how many MTBers read RiotACT.. maybe we should do a RiotACT MTB ride?

It was pretty much a certainty that Canberra would host a round of the 2008 mountain bike world cup, after we secured the 2009 mountain bike world championships.
