Mower repair

By cavvygreen - 22 October 2014 13

My daughter needs to have her mower looked at. Her teenage boys have been fiddling with it trying to get it going. It will start but won’t keep going.

Can anyone recommend someone, maybe a hobbyist, to do a reasonably priced job?

What’s Your opinion?

For a quick DIY, simply empty the mower of fuel and put fresh 97 premium in it. Simple and possibly effective because today’s petrols have a nasty habit of going bad after a few months and not good for an engine once they do. My mower is always empty because the stuff evaporates so fast even with the lid on.

Mower services booked out for weeks. Can you tell if I need to do anything other than replace the fuel – i.e. Spark plugs etc?

If it starts then the spark plugs are not a problem. Try cleaning the carburetor and air filter. So many lawnmower problems start and end with a dirty carburetor.

Make sure you know whether it’s a 2 or 4 stroke engine before you go replacing fuel too – don’t want to go making things worse!

Just did a drive down Sternberg Crescent and found the phone number of mower repair mechanic.

His number is 0428546619.

Thanks Deborah for other repair recommendation. I’ll check him out also.

I highly recommend the Kambah Mower Centre – 6231 2703 – all my friends and family use them for service and repairs. They’re at the back of the Woolworths Petrol Station on the corner of Drakeford Drive and Marconi Crescent.

I’ll take a run out to Tuggeranong – handy to her in Weston – and ask him to repair it. I remember now that this chap had been recommended before. He sounds great.
Thank you everyone.

there’s a chat who runs a mowing business at his home in Sternberg cres Wanniassa.

he has fixed mine previously. It’s just east of the corner with Fincham street and there’s a sign out the front.

ring him up, drop it off and go and pick it up when he’s done.

I’ve used this guy before and he’s been good too.
