The Library Service want you to know they’ve got things to keep the nippers occupied in the leadup to Christmas:

Cake decorating and special Story Times with Mrs Claus or Ernest the Elf are just some of the many activities being held at Libraries ACT branches in the lead up to Christmas.

“Christmas is just around the corner so we are getting into the festive spirit and hosting a range of activities suitable for both children and adults alike,” said Vanessa Little, Director, Libraries ACT.

“Our very popular Christmas Story Time sessions with a special guest storyteller – Mrs Claus or Ernest the Elf – are returning again this year at each of our branches. This is a great opportunity to introduce children 3-5 years of age to Story Time at the library in a fun and exciting setting. It is also a great Christmas activity for parents and their children to go to together.”

This interests me greatly. Last year, I recall, Mrs Claus did most of the gigs. This year it is Ernest who is getting stuck in in earnest. Has there been a bloody struggle in the world of safely non-Christian Christmas entertainment? Was it a case of which of the two could swing his or her sack with more viciousness?

Fascinating to speculate, isn’t it?

Now I’m just off to get a life.
