Mully Icon cast down from on high

Sign down a cliff

[ED – newcomers will need to familiarise themsselves with the Mully Williams back story to get this one.]

I walked the dogs at Shepard’s lookout today, and came across the most sacrilegious act of vandalism I have ever seen.

For ages now the sign there, ostensibly an information board, with pictures of birds and such rubbish on it, has been a bogan icon. It has been shot at and had wonderful informative graffiti scrawled on it of the “Bosco woz ere” variety.

But now someone has taken it up out of the ground and hurled it off the lookout into the ravine below.

Now some may say this is an ultimate bogan expression of superiority and contempt for society’s norms, and acting out of the deep existential angst at the heart of boganhood. Some may cheer and celebrate it as a new pinnacle of bogan mindlessness, and offer praise and respec’ to the perpetrator.

BUT!!

Did the bogan responsible not check first? Were they unaware that the sign held an inscription in celebration of the Risen Mully, a tribute to Saint Mully of Canberra? Mully who died for his sins?

Bogans and boganettes of Canberra unite and hunt down the perp, cast him from boganhood! He is without shame, and does no longer belong in the halls of boganocity.

Nice Captain RAAF!! You’ve just reinstated my firm belief that you are indeed just a callous, souless nobody.

Hilarious. Captain RAAF goes fishing and as usual, gets many bites.

If our repetition here of the true outcome of Mully’s indifference to the laws, norms, sensibilities, and ways and means of living a good life, helps one Bogan achieve a degree of enlightenment, repent his/her Boganhood, and become a productive member of society, then the RiotAct will be worth every pixel it uses.

I%u2019m not holding my breath though.

really? haven’t we got over this yet? is there really a need to have a mully post once a week?

I think Mully has become a touchstone of sorts because he (the physical person and his deeds) represented a lot of what is wrong with our society.

If he hadn’t crashed and died that day, what sort of life do you think he would have lived, how much misery would he have brought to other people by the perpetration of his silly and selfish crimes. I can’t sit here and pretend that he didn’t do our society a big favour by killing himself, I just think it’s a big shame that he had to kill an innocent baby to do so. But that probably neatly sums up his life – somebody was always going to get hurt eventually.

Mission accomplished then. Have a nice day!

Captain RAAF – your purpose is served in the true sense of trolling – shall we say dawn, handbags at 50 paces where the pond-dwellers congregate?

As long as we all lead healthy productive lives, eat right and maintain lots of fibre in our diets. A little piece of Mully lives on inside all of us.

@ CaptainRAAF – My guess is that Mully was just a little too stupid to realise how much of a tool he was. What’s your excuse?

Um, having never stolen a car, while pissed/high and then run from the po-po I’d say I don’t need one.

If he had survived, he’d probably be back on the road about now after his slap on the wrist, have knocked up his scrubber and no doubt destined to take out another innocent member of society. With luck and having all the planets in alignment, I would have liked to see one of his ‘supporters’ here be on the recieving end of the next Mully Missile!

Some of you seem to think murder is something that has a moral value. Good luck with that.

Bogan Holocaust – isn’t that just another name for Summernats?

Not unless we start committing mass murder at summernats.

Lock and load Captain RAAF, it’s time for some gene pool cleansing.

What has happened to the local vernacular? Unless you are all Melburnite immigrants yet to get a grasp of the uniquely Canberran linguistic landscape you are surely all meaning to say BOONER not BOGAN. I mean its one of the last (possibly only ever) vestiges of a cultural identity we have.

@ WMC – solid gold.

@ WMC: excellent theologising. Best RA post in ages.

Mully was a frequent visitor to my old next door neighbour. These days I sometimes feel that my life has become very beige in the absence of his his abusive, noisy, and generally highly objectionable carrying on. Nonetheless, I have been blessed. Before his passing Mully carved his name out the front of my place, and I have the pleasure of being reminded of him every time I walk out my front door. A true privilege.

I wonder if there are any miracles that he may be able to perform from beyond the grave. Perhaps Rioters should keep an eye out. If it looks like we’re on a good wicket, we should begin a campaign to see if we can get him beatified.

Oh please Captain RAAF, here I was missing your self-indulgent updates.

Who else do you consider the scum of society? Do they all deserve to die the same way? Gee, wouldn’t the world just be so much better if we were all clones of Captain RAAF .. never doing anything remotely stupid, inconsiderate, irresponsible or reckless… ahh, I can picture it now.

Sure a pox on Mully and his girlfriend (and her inexcusable law suit) but I never said I liked the guy! I’m just a bit fed up with holier-than-thou douche monkeys all coming out and saying that he deserved to die and so do all his ‘lower than scum’ friends.

Why don’t you just organise the bogan holocaust now. Don’t worry about inviting me though.

Maybe I’m getting boring and old.

As much as Mully was a bona-fide tool and his followers, both the UDL and Wild Turkey variety also are deserving of Tooldom, I think that PBO’s comment is pretty heartless. Wankers or not, wanting people to go and kill themselves and take out others at the same time is incredibly insensitve. Did I know Mully? No. Did he deserve to die? Most likely also no. Did the people in the other car, including their baby, deserve to die? No.

Most of the time the tools don’t take out other wankers, they take out regular people going to or from work, or parties, or to the shop.

And why is it ok to pontificate on Riot Act about how the behaviour of bogans is so distasteful (and I believe it is) .. what, all that drinking and driving and recreational drug taking .. when really, writing oneself off for the weekend (maybe even on Wild Turkey) is considered a right of passage or a normal weekend and speeding recklessly is just another minor infringement, a regular occurrence.

You are living in a fantasy land. He, his passenger and the couple he hit, deserved to die. They are/were the scum of society, not worthy of a chance because the precedent that shows these people are irreversibly a sponge on the rest of us is set in granite. A pox on Mully, his girlfriend, the couple of crims he splattered and anyone that subscribes to the possibility they may have been worthy of a second go!

The baby that was killed was the only innocent and provides yet another excuse, if we needed any, to back out a nard on Mully’s tombstone!

Very good spot WMC!!

Pommy Bastard – I’m not denying that he is responsible for his own death, and that of the other people who died and I thought your post was funny .. I laughed.

I’m just trying to point out how callous people have become when talking about Mully and the other people who died. Sure he was a bogan, a thief, a good- for – nothing .. and therefore, popular opinion states that he apparently deserves to die .. but I think there is a latent hypocrisy in thinking that our lives are apparently more valuable than others and therefore we can just say heartless things like ‘taking his mates with him next time’.

And why do people think its perfectly acceptable to slam those like Mully, while going home every night to a few too many beers, or spending their weekends doing exactly the same, getting into fights, or treating other road users (or whoever) with disrespect.

I thought the accident was a tragedy, a baby who never had a chance died because this douche bag was reckless and irresponsible .. but we’re kidding ourselves if we think ‘respectable’ society is any better.

Well he tried his best, and achieved death. I’m grateful he took himself out rather than taking out me or mine.

You denied him three times! It’s the prophecy fulfilled again!

You must eat a Tropicana pack and drink a Woodstock before the next full moon, or else…

love it!! lol @ WMC

Now there’s an appropriate expression of how we feel about his passing!

Perhaps the result of two feuding bogan families? A falling out between Mully’s Mob?

Weekend at Bernie’s drinking woodstock and cola in a stolen car?

You beat me to it with the idea of digging him up – I think he should be dug up and thrown into the same ravine as the sign.

Though I do like your idea of bogging on his grave.

@woody mann-caruso

Being an old bastard, I don’t know the acronyms used by the youth of today.

But to let you know, I am rolling on the floor and laughing my arse off.

@WMC – ROTFLMFAO!

Wow, I didn’t think that the bogans would be willing to go far enough from their stolen VN commodores to get to Shepard’s lookout? Unless someone has again moved the huge rocks designed to stop the bogans driving out there.

Maybe this is the first act by a group of anti bogan militants, entering the front line in the fight against bogan behaviour by employing the bogans own tactics against them, and destroying one of the sacred shrines to the Mully.

Poida 4:1-8

1 “And I say unto you, Poida, before the Red Rooster opens, you will betray me for a six of UDLs.”

2 Now Poida was sitting in the carpark at Pine Island, and the Rangers told him “You were with Mully.” But he denied it before them all, saying “I didnt even know him so f*ck orf”.

3 And when he had gone out to Autopro, the checkout girl saw him and said to the others gathered there: “He was with Mully.” And again he denied it with an oath, “F*ck off youse don’t know sh*t.”

4 A little later the drive-through attendant said “Hey, weren’t you mates with Mully?” And Poida began to curse and swear, saying that he did not know him.

5 And immediately, the sign atop the Wanniassa Red Rooster was bathed in neon light. And Poida remembered the words of the spirit of Mully, and he went out and wept bitterly.

6 Then Poida, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and he drank the UDLs, and brought the sign of blue and silver to the edge of the ravine,

7 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the spirit of Mully. And the ricers gathered there said, What is that to us? See thou to that.

8 And he cast down the sign in the ravine, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

That really pisses me off, with any luck these people will follow suit and crash and kill themselves and maybe take some other wankers with them.
