Steven Hillier, who was previously found guilty of murdering his estranged wife has today had the verdict of the Supreme Court jury overturned in a 2-1 decision. The Court of Appeals majority ruled that the verdict by the jury was unsafe and was based entirely on circumstantial evidence.

Judgment here

Nice to know the court of appeal works if he actually didn’t do it. Pretty crappy if he did do it though. I just feel sorry for the kids.

I pray to god that nothing happens to the two children who are going to wear the brunt of this miscarriage of justice. Should anything happen I will lobby to hold Higgins and Crispin accountable.

Murdoch found guilty on an entirely circumstantial case.

Hillier found not guilty on an entirely circumstantial case.

Not very convincing is it.

Without known the precise details of each case, it could be argued that each result may come down to the showmanship of each sides defence/prosection teams. A jury is putty in their hands.
