my family stickers

I took this on Saturday afternoon in Fyshwick as it struck me as a true “images of Canberra” photo.

Struggling to believe that someone got their Toorak tractor/child killer dirty.

Aerosol bulldust, surely? Or has the GDE already deteriorated to this degree?

Um a Ford 4WD does not qualify as a Toorak Tractor! Has to be a Rangerover …

I actually don’t mind those stickers. They give a bit of self expression potential which some people will take advantage of. The funniest/saddest one was of a woman with 16 cats.

Is it not possible that she was taking the piss?

Along those lines, the funniest one I’ve seen has just a man and a woman, standing next to a big pile of cash. I thought that was pretty clever.

I’m calling BS on this. See link:

I did have a laugh at one of the yuppies at work who is very career oriented. Someone brave put just a single bloke on his car. He thought it was apt, so he left it there.

I’ll also admit to hating the frangipanis and was considering producing an anti-frangipani sticker but was beaten to it..

These stickers are a lot like tattoos. They were cool and interesting until the bogan masses discovered them.

Lolz.

Bogans were covered in tattoos long before all the stupid m^thf%cking hipsters started sporting them … and even longer than all those tepid public servants who think that they’re ‘rebellious’ because they have one (this really is the contemporary equivalent of those vile novelty ties that were so ubiquitous back in the day).

+1

THe worst ones are the fricking tribal tattoos. If you are not from a tribal background or getting it as a heritage thing, then don’t get it.

I have more than a few tattoos, and every one of them means something or represents something or some point in my life, whether it be love, loss, pain or joy. I have a feeling my next one may get me fired…

Oh come on “Shirty-bear” a Ford Territory isnt even a 4WD (it comes as AWD or RWD) so cannot possibly be referred to as a “Toorak Tractor”, at best its a Red Hill Runabout and would equate more with a station wagon which if there are 6 in that family as indicated by the number of stickers on the back would be what’s required to transport that many people around with any comfort

that said I note the crudely drawn frangipani under the offending stickers which makes it doubly abhorrent, I think a packet of condoms placed under the windscreen wiper might be a better option

I took a photo of a sticker on a car that said “This car was built with spanners not chopsticks” .. wasn’t sure what to make of that.

Burglar: “Hmm a family with a few kids, a reasonably nice car, probably got ipads, ipods, iphones, PS3 etc at home. Might follow and see where they live…”

This is a valid point. I have seen a few with single mums and a number of young children, one of these is regularly parked in a driveway of a house down the road from me and it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to put 2 and 2 together…’Aaah, single mum, no man in the house….I think I’ll watch her’.

You are basically advertising to anyone what your family demographic consists of. It’s stupid!

I like the My Family stickers. They have personality and convey an upbeat image of the occupants inside and their interests. Much better than those other stupid car sticker crazes of years gone by, namely the frangipani stickers during the noughties and the Bad Boy Club stickers of the ’90s.

Still doesn’t beat my “economists do it with models” rear window sticker.

Great photo!

Great! My daughter put some on our car a couple of weeks ago. I thought they are a bit naff, but harmless.

But now I know it irritates the hipsters I’m all for it!

The hipsters put the stickers on their cars fixed-gear bikes ironically.

A more subtle take: http://bit.ly/sNTE7M

Add a sticker of Calvin peeing on them for maximum mash-up winnage!

Werent they meant to Identify the highclass nobility such as yourself?

No. No they weren’t.

Of course I am not going to bring up that that is the only area clean on the car, as the person probably just purchased the stickers and did not want to stick them to mud, but here is a good set of stickers for the car;

I reckon they have more character and appeal, specially for the every day Canberran.

I’ve watched as these family stickers have slowly creeped down into the ACT- I first saw them on the Gold Coast this time last year, and they’ve slowly spread south down the east coast, like a vehicular cane toad or somesuch.

dunno i might prefer the toads

I don’t get the hate for these little guys – they’re a little bit of personality on otherwise dull, conformist boxes. Are they really so offensive you have to froth at the mouth about them? Wish I’d thought of the idea of making them myself!

Unlike those wretched frangipani stickers, Eureka flag or “Australia – love it or LEAVE” bumper threat that immediately mark the owner as an airhead teenager, irredeemable bogan or mindless thug, the “family” stickers cover all the demographics.

My favourite so far is a tossup between the little Hyundai with just a teenage girl and a horse on it, and the low-down-on-it’s-springs Tarago with Mum, Dad, 6 kids and a couple of dogs and a cat. Had I the spare money and time I’d love to sneak into where the local high school parks their bus and put 16 teenagers and a driver right across the rear window. That’s just me though.

lol, why would anyone else on the road care you have 2 kids, a dog, and daddy can ride a bicycle?

Takes the time to ensure folk can see his Sadipani family. But doesn’t bother to think of their safety by ensuring he can see out his rear windscreen. Speaks volumns.

Not sure about the GDE, but I think they were ‘resurfacing’ the Tugg-bound side of the parkway today (near Weston turnoff). So get ready for some gravelly off road action on the way home if you live down south!

The weirdest My Family sticker i’ve seen on a car would have to be two adults (mum and dad i assumed), and a baby with wings and a halo… not sure if it meant the baby was a ‘little angel’, or it had gone to heaven 🙁 …pretty morbid if it was the latter.

I am torn between intense loathing of those stickers, and gratitude that the Frangipani madness has stopped. What the hell is wrong with people?
