MyGov is a Dog (with apologies to all our canine friends)

I see that the ATO is about to announce that we will need to use MyGov for tax returns in the future.

My experience with MyGov has been appalling. I just tried it again, with no success at all. When I go to eHealth, which is linked to my MyGov account, it gives a “Sorry, this webpage could not be displayed” message.

When I try to link Medicare to MyGov, it also comes up with error messages (even though my direct logon to Medicare works).

Does anyone else have troubles? Is anyone from Health (or whoever runs this mongrel (again, apologies to all bitzers out there) system able to advise what the problems are and if they’ll be fixed by 1 July?

Yeah, could not agree more. It’s a b$tch trying to link Medicare with MyGov. Asking you some thing like 10 ridiculous questions. Every body knows their birthday, but their stupid system only allows one format of date and they don’t let you what format they are expecting ie dd/mm/yyyy. Got it wrong, restart all over, and locked out after a few tries.

I don’t think those MyGov IT guys are qualified at all, while it’s good to have security, but making it impossible for a genuine user to login is PURE DUMMY.

Big shock. The interesting article from a SMH today highlights the security flaws of the entire government linked system.

It’ll be a cold day in hell before I link all my medical details and personal finances etc into their one big (flawed) network.

As it stands I’ll be avoiding the mygov system for tax returns, I’ll plead ignorance of not owning a computer if necessary.

This is just proof of another government blunder that no doubt ran over budget, over time and was rushed through to get some credit for the ‘higher ups’ to make it look like they’re doing something to justify their ridiculous salaries.

Further update.

Logged in and was advised that all government correspondence would now be by email, but if you still wanted snail mail, you would have configure the appropriate agency, medicare for example.

After quite some time managed to do that. God they make it hard

To make it even more bizarre, they will send me an email to my normal address to advise that my government Inbox has email. Why don’t they just send the email to my normal address in the first place?

Wonder who is responsible for this incredibly bad facility?

Hopeless

The bizarre part is when I tried to link my Medicare it wanted to know the date, name and postcode of the last doctor I saw which was a long time ago. Looks like I won’t bother.

When I go to MyGov, I get;

Sorry, myGov is currently unavailable. We are working hard to fix the issue. (RFM01)

Oh well.
