Nats' Barilaro has Liberal aspirations?

The latest letterbox drop from Nationals’ candidate for Monaro, John Barilaro, clearly puts the NSW Liberals logo ahead of his own party’s. Is he so embarrassed to be a Nat that he’s pretending he belongs to both parties?

I’ve heard he ran for Queanbeyan Council as an Independent so clearly his party allegiances are sketchy at best.

Having both logos on the flyer seems pretty dishonest to me, but perhaps it’s a nod to the fact that if the Coalition is elected it’s much more likely to be Barry O’Farrells brood of Sydney-based Liberals running the show.

It certainly doesn’t seem to go with his statement that he’ll have the power to deliver results for the region ‘when’ – not ‘if’ – the State has a new Government next month.

But perhaps he has a secret plan to jump the good ship Nationals when Barry cuts them adrift?

Barilaro will get in by a landslide. He’s running quite a good campaign, and Whan being a state minister as well as local member will be tarred with the NSW Labor brush. Monaro tends to flip between Labor and Nat/Lib anyway.

I’m eternally fascinated with how Lib and Nat voters screech that A Vote For The Greens Is A Vote For Labor, without ever justifying having two parties who work as a bloc (Nat/Lib).

If you look carefully at the Labor pamphlet which arrived the same day, Keneally and two blokes are looking at a big poster for the camera, but it is upside down. Maybe that is where they have gone wrong??

“I’ve heard he ran for Queanbeyan Council as an Independent so clearly his party allegiances are sketchy at best. “

Umm… you might want to check if the Nationals even endorse candidates for local government, because the Liberals usually don’t, so surprise surprise Liberal Party Members often run for local government as independents. I’m 95% sure the Nat’s are the same.

This article is a pretty transparent, ham-fisted ALP smear IMO.
