Community service providers planning to operate in the ACT under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) when it officially begins on 1 July can now register online.

Minister for Disability Joy Burch said the registration process would help providers deliver services to NDIS participants who elect to have their funds managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

“Registration means providers are able to deliver services to NDIS participants who have their funding package, or a portion of it, managed by the NDIA,” Ms Burch said.

“We are finding that in other jurisdictions most participants are electing for the NDIA to manage their supports, so it is important for service providers to be registered.

“Registration applies to all existing ACT service providers, as well as those planning to set up in the ACT. It doesn’t matter if you are a sole practitioner or a large national organisation, registration is your best opportunity to engage with the more than 5,000 people who will eventually become NDIS participants here in the ACT.

“In addition, participants can have confidence that registered service providers have met requirements in relation to qualifications, approvals, experience and capacity to deliver approved supports. People with disability and their families and carers will be able to search online for services to deliver their supports, ensuring greater choice and control.”

Registered providers will also get access to the NDIS online Provider Portal, which will assist with invoicing and financial management. Providers can register online via http://www.ndis.gov.au/document/297.
