Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night stays Corinbank

Corinbank has sent word that they’re not going to let a little rain dampen the party:

Come rain, hail or shine, Corinbank will be on this weekend! Thanks to a combination of pre-festival site improvements, great drainage and predicted good weather for the weekend itself, Festival organisers are confident of Corinbank being bigger, better and more fun than ever before.

“Our festival directors know the festival site intimately, and know exactly how to prep the site to cope with all kinds of weather,” General Manager Amy Moon said. “There is excellent drainage onsite and we’ve made adjustments to the layout of the Festival to maximise the benefits of the site for our stages, stalls and camp grounds.”

Parts of the festival site will still be quite wet, so Ms Moon encourages people to come prepared. “Pack your gum boots, chairs to sit on and ground sheets for your tent,” she said. “And a few extra pairs of socks!”

UPDATE 01/03/12 09:53: We can now report that Corinbank has in fact been postponed.

On the road closures list today: Corin Dam Road at Square Rock car park (with access to Corin Forest recreational playground maintained). I wonder if that will stay that way because it doesn’t look like this rain is going to stop any time soon.

Thank you so much for that link.

And if anyone ever mentions Skyrim again, I’ll know to to say Hikikomori!

What’s that all abot then?

Not Pratchett fan I take it?

Normally , I’d consider going postal over a remark like that.

The full quote is “NEITHER RAIN NOR SNOW NOR GLO M OF NI T CAN STAY THESE MESSENGERS ABO T THIER DUTY”

Unless Tharwa is getting cut off it’s hard to think of a vulnerable crossing.

OK, a slightly longer drive than point hut, but not a showstopper.

Well there’s at least two places along Corin Road before you reach the site where creeks run under the road, and even after moderate rain begin to flow over the road. With the predictions over the next few days, I’d say the road will be cut at one of those. TAMS actually implied they may close the whole Corin Road at the start, as they have done on previous occasions because of this creeks making it impassible.

“Glom of nit” surely?

So THAT’S why we’re having epic rains. The hippies are this weekend.

while I appreciate the optimism of organisers and enthusiasm of attendees, aren’t there likely to be road closures that will stop people getting there? hard to see how Corinbankers can deal with that.
