ACT Policing has arrested a 32-year-old male for a robbery at the Erindale shops yesterday morning (Thursday May 5).
Around 8.20am a woman was walking to the front entrance of the Erindale shops when she was approached by a man who grabbed her by the arm. The offender asked the victim for some money and after telling him she had none, he told her to walk to a nearby ATM and withdraw some money.
The victim withdrew a sum of money and handed it to the offender. Bizarrely, the offender gave the victim some loose change and then left the area.
Following several lines on enquiry, Tuggeranong Patrol general duties members located the alleged offender at the Erindale shops this morning. He was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.
The man was charged with robbery and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
