ABC Online has this snippet on Dr Charles Guest being appointed as the new ACT Health Chief. The Guest Doc says that there won’t be any radical changes and it will be business as usual. Does the Health Chief look after hospitals? If so why aren’t there going to be any changes, if not, then who does?

Che – as I understand it, the Chief Health Officer is more of a medical professional than an administrator. The CHO looks at population health, public health risks, controlling epidemics, that sort of thing – as opposed to the day-to-day running of the hospital system.

I think the CEO of ACT Health looks after hospitals.
