Hi RA-ers.

There’s a new cafe/restaurant in Weston which opened less than two weeks and is worth a visit.

It’s called Kusina and is Filipino-based in its cuisine – I’m not aware of any other Filipino places in Canberra.

I’ve had good coffee there and a breakfast. As well as good eggs benny etc, they also do Filipino brekkies like longganisa and pork tocino – the pork was great, with garlic rice and fried eggs.

Lunch/dinner menu includes all sorts of intriguing items like Pritong Talong (fried eggplant, tomato, red onion, salted duck eggs and garlic sauce) and Sizzling Bulalo (beef osso bucco with mushroom sauce), Lechon Kawali (crispy pork belly), Chicken Inasal (grilled chicken, lemongrass, garlic, ginger, soy) and so on.

Nice fitout too.

Outdoor seating in a sunny spot.

They are on the SE corner of Cooleman Court, next to the community centre and the ramp down to the chemist. Definitely worth a try! Open 8am to 5:30pm (sun/Mon) or to 10:30pm rest of week.

I’m not commercially related, just a resident pleased to see something different!

The missus and I ate there last weekend – standout dishes for me were the Bulalo Soup and Chicken Inasal. Friendly service, lots of families dining out – like being in the Philippines!

Great – thank you so much!
