Why hasn’t this innovation been more widely publicised?

I believe though that stores being responsible for trolleys dumped as ‘waste’ is.

Good business opportunity for charities here…..make trolley tokens the same size as the coin, stick them on a keyring fob.

Coles sent me one of those a year or two ago….

Already available from Aldi for $1. Same size as a $2 coin. Mine lives in the ashtray of my ’83 Falcon bogan-mobile.

Aldi sells them…

I’d far rather have that druggie window-washer on the corner of Antill & Northbourne earned his hundred or so a day for his hits chasing trolleys than humbugging me at the lights!

Makes sense. Aldi have been doing it since day 1.

In Belconnen, the result is a rack of pristine, untouched Aldi trolleys and a lot of customers using Coles and Woolies ones picked up on the way in.

In Katherine (NT) the result is a car park full of tootless, metho drinking natives following shoppers to their cars.

I’m not sure I’m seeing the connection between coin-operated management and trollies, but can you tell me where the coin-slots are on the aldi managers? *snigger*

Or put backpackers in charity branded t-shirts in car parks asking if they can return your trolley.

The sign has been like this for many months.

Ahh…got your drift now.

Not been to Aldi? Just a $1 or $2 coin, makes you take your trolley back.
We had it for years in the UK, but it’s a PITA until you get into the habit of carrying coins round…nothing worse than walking in the door then finding out you have no change.

Coin operated trolley management isn’t legislated, it’s also not that effective. Superbarn trolleys with the devices still congregate on the streets of the city because of lazy ass people who can’t be bothered using their arms and hands to carry their 2 bags of shopping, or return the trolley after using it.
