New name for Stromlo Crit Track?

The criterium cycling circuit at Stromlo was named the Stephen Hodge Criterium Cycling circuit when it was opened in 2006.

Stephen Hodge has just admitted to doping during his career as a pro cyclist and has since resigned from his current position as vice-president of Cycling Australia.

So I think we need a new name for the Stromlo crit track, but looking at the current state of professional road cycling we’re going to struggle to find a clean cyclist with roots in the ACT. Any ideas? I reckon the best road cyclist Canberra has produced is Michael Rodgers, but he too has been named recently in the Lance Armstrong destruction of pro cycling.

why not call it what everybody already calls it? “The c**k and balls”.
Look on Google maps.

Who was ex pollie/lawyer who was a keen cyclist? Can’t remember his name but he passed away suddenly on a ride up Red Hill a few years back. Thought he was involved in a lot of humanitarian work.

Terry Connolly

That would be Terry Connolly.

David Polkinghorne of Canberra Times infamy has the audacity to compare Lance Armstrong with Trevor and Greg Chapell and the underarm bowl. Firstly, what the Chapells did that day (and yes I was there at the MCG!) was within the rules of the sport (unlike Armstrong) and was not illegal (unlike Armstrong). The only performance enhancement was probably a cold beer during the break, because if I remember correctly it was bloody hot.

I know he was foremost a MTBer, but James Williamson?

He already has a track named after him, “Willo’s Link” on the northern side of the mountain.

Stephen Dodge Advanced Anabolic Cycling?

I know he was foremost a MTBer, but James Williamson?

The Katy Gallagher memorial track?

Michael Rogers was mentioned, not so much “named”. There is no evidence implicating him in any drug taking other than association with people who have.

Good luck finding a clean cyclist whose name you could use to name the track.

Unbelievable!

It should be ‘QUONlo Criterium Circuit’, in honour of Canberra’s greatest ever semi-professional cycling team: Team QUON.

They should call it the ‘stay clean’ track.

Burn it into the psyche of every rider as they come up through the ranks.
