Joy Burch has announced she wants the names of outstanding women:

Nominations are being sought from today for individual women who have demonstrated courage or have made an outstanding contribution to the lives of women in Canberra.

Minister for Women Joy Burch today announced that starting next year three awards will be presented to Canberra women during International Women’s Day celebrations in March 2014.

“We will be looking for an ACT Woman of the Year, Young Woman of the Year and a Senior Woman of the Year,” Ms Burch said.

All nominees will automatically be considered for the ACT Woman of the Year category.

“These awards will provide an opportunity for the whole community to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women in Canberra.

“Nominees will have made a significant contribution to the lives of women and girls in the ACT.”

Nominations for next year’s awards will be open for four months from 1 August until 2 December 2013. In January 2014, an assessment panel will be convened and will provide recommendations to the Minister for Women for consideration.

The nomination forms are available online.
