New Year fireworks?

Anyone know if there will be a firework display of any sort on New Years Eve?
Or any entertainment organised that is family friendly.
I’m presuming there will be stuff on in Civic, but I don’t particularly want my child exposed to vomiting teenagers.

So you don’t mind exposing them to vomiting adults? It’s new years eve, there will be vomiting people everywhere. I don’t really see why there needs to be a special fireworks display at 9pm, “kiddies fireworks” are a poor excuse. Put them to bed at the normal time like every other day of the year, it’s not a massive occasion that needs great attention.

Couldnt have said it better myself. If your kids arent old enough to see that sort of thing, why are you thinking of taking them out to a late night party like that anyway? The 9pm fireworks will be shown on TV I’m sure, so let them watch that then off to bed.

Well I will be in NSW also, having a great time, boring Canberra, can’t fart these days without Big Brother watching you!

Why is it so hard to Google – http://www.events.act.gov.au/?/event/view/25

The first show is a family event, lots of little kiddies and the streets are blocked off. Starts at 7pm, with fireworks at 9pm. Most of the vomiting teenagers don’t come out till later on.

It’s not that hard to use Google I suppose. I appreciate your input.

I usually go up Black Mountain or the other side of the lake to see the NYE fireworks. Black Mountain is a family friendly place with the drunks being in the restaurant where the alcohol is.

Wow, 8 posts and no mention of the Queens Birthday long weekend.

I believe Fuhrer Stanhope outlawed fun a few months back, therefore everyone handed back the fireworks purchased during Queen’s b’day…… didn’t we…..

I’m taking the train to Sydney to watch the bigger and better fireworks display up there.

LOL

That will be your kids in a few years

According to the radio, some people have asked whether they can bring their dogs to the fireworks. WTF ?

This will be my first year in Canberra for New Years Eve. I normally head out of town, and by the sounds of this, I made the right choice on previous years. WTF? DJ’s spinning somebody else’s songs? Alcohol-free event? Seriously? what does everone else do in Canberra on New Years?

Just mention bicycle paths on this thread. Then fireworks are guaranteed.
