MUCH better value than the premium ticket is a season ticket. 3 pm it quietens down massively. If you get a season ticket now, you can visit many times. the exhibition is simply too big and amazing to attempt to digest in a single visit …

The school holidays have finished so the crowds would have died down. Don’t leave it too long, it will get busy again when there is only a few weeks left

Best RiotACT post everrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I bought the $40 tickets for myself and my Mother in law – gets you in at 9am with very few others and you have the gallery to yourself until 10am. At 10am when we walked out the queue was enormous and no one had even been let in. So well worth paying the extra $15 or so and seeing the paintings at your leisure. There is also an $80 ticket that includes a three course breakfast.

In March there are also some evening events that sound fantastic.

I gave up.

But there is plenty of good stuff to see there for nix. I recommend the “Emerging artists” Indigenous collection – some really good work there. And there’s a huge grey painting right downstairs about the Nazi concentration camps that is one of the most remarkable pieces I’ve seen (IMO).

I heard from a neighbour today that there were barely any queues for ticketing, and it was busy in the exhibition but not crazily so. Beats the situation a month back where the queue was almost in the High Court plaza before the doors even opened!

Went just today. No huge queues for the ticket purchase (tho’ got ours on-line). Lots of people in the exhibit. Lots – 3 to 4 deep in some places. Not a park in the car park. First time that’s ever happened to me at the NGA – tho’ most of the outdoor parking is gone to make way for extension.
Definately an exhibit worth seeing. At $25 full entry it’s a bargin. You can ask for a pass-out too. Don’t have to absorb all the pieces in one sitting – can pop in and out during the day.
Enjoy
