Nightfest a success

Despite some grumbling on this site about the Nightfest at Floriade the ABC is declaring the event a success.

“We’ll sit down … and go through all the things which can be improved and all the things which worked and based on that we’ll make a decision on next year.

“But I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t feature more regularly because [it was] well received by the public.”

I went on the Friday night and noticed how the demographics skewed towards younger people … no retirees and zimmer frames to be seen.

Our mob had a good feed, stuffed around a bit with the various attractions and ultimately seemed to have had a good time.

I was wary initially, but will be back if they do it again.

From what I could see several thousand others were in a similar frame of mind.

I went on Saturday night and had a great time. Perfect weather for it.

There’s a few logistical bugs to be ironed out (more food stalls, better path lighting) but I’ll be back again next year.

$15 too steep? Pfft. Cheaper than Hoyts.

It would be nice if they opened it at night, maybe in a more low-key way. Perhaps have night-fest events, and evenings with no events. Just flowers. And maybe din-dins.

I gotta agree AussieGal83 – I’m a tightarse but still can’t see the problem with $15. If we were talking $25 – 30 then I’d have a tantrum! ;P

I went on Friday night. Thought the animated films were tops… very entertaining. Didn’t like the people swaying on the sticks very very long & boring.Was there a story line? Should have made an exit after the films. Certainly not worth $15 a ticket. Would like to see it run again next year with change of format.Don’t think I will be able to drag hubby along next year oh well will need to go it alone….

i give it a big 2 thumbs up! friday (the night we went), saturday and sunday nights sold out. the animated short films on friday night were great – laughs for children and adults alike.

I’d be calling it a success. We went along on Thursday night and it was obviously very popular. As I said earlier they need to rethink the format and the films they show a little, but all in all I hope it’s something they run again next year…
