It appears we have a new harbinger of spring.

Andrew Barr is letting us all know that tickets are now on sale for the “NightFest” part of Floriade.

“This year’s Floriade NightFest promises five nights of fun for the whole family and I urge patrons to buy tickets in advance to avoid missing out. I also encourage Canberrans to invite their interstate friends and relatives to attend the event,” Mr Barr said.

Floriade NightFest will run 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm from Wednesday 22 September to Sunday 26 September 2010. Tickets are on sale from www.ticketek.com.au or any Ticketek agent or by phoning 13 28 49.

Floriade NightFest tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, $50 for a family (two adults, two children) and $10 for concession holders. Entry to Floriade by day will remain free for all visitors. Tickets can be purchased onsite from the Da Vinci Machines Exhibition Pavilion and are $20 for adults, $10 for juniors, $15 for concession holders, $50 for a family with two adults and two juniors and $60 for a family with two adults and two concessions.

September nights are still a wee bit cold me thinks… Better take along grandpa’s cough medicine in a flask.

While I didn’t have the best time of my life last year I’ll go again. I reckon its good to support attempts at adding a new dimension to Canberra’s evening entertainment and I’ll be keen to see what the organisers have changed.

I enjoyed Nightfest last year (or was it the year before?).

Unlike every other Floriade event you don’t have to pretend to be captivated by the same old f*cking tulips time after time.

Is this anything like night swimming and alcohol?

Yaaaay Nightfest! Night time and flowers and glowey stuff and sparkly things!

And romantic rides on the various carnival stuff!

And movies and cocktails!

And sparkly stuff!!!

Went once, not too keen on it again.

1st rule of NightFest is: Don’t talk about NightFest.
