Nine-times drink driver apprehended again
Release Date: Tuesday, August 30 2011, 09:17 AMA 35-year-old Duffy man who was caught drink driving on Wednesday night (August 24) has nine previous drink driving convictions.
About 10.40pm members from Woden Police Station were conducting random breath testing on Namatjira Drive, Fisher, when they stopped the driver of a white Toyota Land Cruiser.
The driver, who is subject to an alcohol limit of 0.05, underwent a breath screening test which returned a positive result. He was taken to Woden Police Station for a breath analysis and recorded 0.146. As a result of this reading he was served with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his right to drive.
A further 26 people have been caught for drink driving in the past week (August 23 to 29). The highest reading was recorded by a 53-year-old Watson man with 0.174 yesterday morning (Monday, August 29).
About 9.25am City Police Station members were driving along Philip Avenue in Downer when they saw a red Holden Nova sedan driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police spoke to the driver, asking why he was going down the wrong side of the road, to which he replied “I always go that way”. He was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice and his licence was seized.
