ACT Policing has charged nine young males in relation to a series of public aggravated robberies in Canberra’s south last December, with five scheduled to face ACT courts tomorrow.

Police will allege that weapons such as knives, a hammer and metal poles were used during the robberies, which occurred predominantly at Southside skate parks between December 6 and 9, 2010.

Three victims were hospitalised during the attacks, offenders allegedly stealing cash and phones. Two of the offences occurred at the Weston Creek skate park, one at Woden skate park and the other at an Erindale footbridge.

The five males in ACT courts tomorrow range from 17 to 19 years of age and face a total of 17 charges for aggravated robbery (in company).

In the ACT Magistrates Court, an 18-year-old Wanniassa man will answer four charges of aggravated robbery (in company) and two charges for attempted aggravated robbery (in company). A 19-year-old Bonython man will face three charges of aggravated robbery (in company).

Three 17-year-old Southside males will attend the ACT’s Childrens Court to face a total of 10 charges for aggravated robbery (in company).

ACT Policing is continuing its investigation and there is the potential for further offenders and charges to be identified.

Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Well done, the Plod. Sadly they’ll be back on the street up to their old tricks in no time.

The young ones will get a smack on the wrist and sent on their way and the older ones will at best get a suspended sentence but more likely get off with a warning or a token fine after telling the court some sob story about a rough childhood and their alcohol and drug addictions.

My thanks go out to Plod for organising this good bit of news for us!

Their parents must be proud.

I wonder if one of those 9 bellends included that failed rapist with the dice earing at Weston skate park?

I hope it was. He looked like a pillock http://the-riotact.com/38258/38258
