ABC Online is reporting that there was little trouble with fireworks over the long weekend.

I suspect this had a lot to do with the big dump of rain on Saturday.

Anyways the Minister will no doubt inform us what she’ll allow us to do next year.

The fun, thrills and excitement of lighting a penny-bunger or sky-rocket can not be contained to prescribed times.Kids will be unpredictable and I suspect “responsible” adults are also culprits behind unwanted firework noise. If you weigh up the enjoyment against the unwanted jolts to the peace well I say light-up.

Well we do have a bit of an enforcement problem in this town.

Lots of fireworks are still getting let off out of the prescribed hours. It has been quite a problem in schools, and it always is.

It went remarkably well.

We let half of ours off last night. We planned to let the other half off tonight, but the rain has put paid to that – will save them for next year.

A pretty quiet few nights. No massive bangs and explosions. No loud noises after hours. Very good.

Even our dog – a sooky rockweiller, who loves fireworks nights – spent a rather quiet few nights not barking. This is the true test.

She was on 2CC this afternoon saying that it will take about 2-3 weeks for them to organise and decide on the data.

She did say that her area had been quiet, but she has had reports of problems in other areas.

Her dog was barking in the background…read into that whatever you want.
