Following on from this morning’s dramas at Canberra Airport we now have news from ActewAGL that the gas is out.

ActewAGL advises that businesses surrounding Canberra Airport will be without gas for the remainder of today following damage to a high pressure gas main.

The damage occurred at 7.15am (13 May 2011) when a third-party contractor damaged the main with an excavator.

The damaged main has been isolated and areas without gas supply include the Airport and Fairburn. Crews are advising effected businesses of the disruption.

Gas supply is anticipated to be restored by the end of the day.

UPDATE: Sometime after 16:20 ActewAGL advised the gas was back on.
