No intention to close Northbourne.

The CT artical has been updated again with no note of edit, every thing prior to the line:
“Wind gusts exceeding 80km/h lashed Canberra all day yesterday.” was not there yesterday.

And every thing past that Line has not direct meaning for “Northbourne Ave”(eg. Old artical), Atleast the articall is now more factual, I’m guessing.

The problem being that weather forecasters don’t actually do road closures.

What is worse than scare mongering reporters, is those that try to cover it up.
As there is no note to say that the article has been updated, which you normally see when CT’s web article are updated.

I am not sure if some RiotACT members are aware of this, but some trees on the Northbourne Avenue median strip are being held up by lots of ropes being tied around them. I noticed 3 of such trees near the Macarthur Avenue traffic lights. I thought someone was being an idiot, until I noticed an official sign stating what was going on.

If the rope was white and in patterns then it’s an art installation.

People seem to be unaware of or have forgotten the large number of trees on Northbourne Avenue that fell during strong winds one Sunday in Autumn [?] last year. I saw at least two entire large trees on the road itself, several that had fallen onto median strip, and lots of large branches on the road. At the time, I was amazed no one was injured. The government can’t prevent everything.

A tree came down across the right lane of the Monaro heading South, just before the prison, just before 5pm tonight as I was heading home. It was about 5 cars in front of me and was pretty scary. Luckily, all the cars were slowing down for the traffic lights and I think it fell between 2 cars. It was a whole tree though from what I saw – not just a branch.
