No picnic for the RUC as tables stolen

As I arrived at work today I noticed that the beer garden outside the ACT Rugby Union Club on Blackall Street in Barton looked a bit bare. Last night thieves stole two of the RUC’s solid wood picnic tables kindly leaving an empty space where they once belonged.

The tables stolen are made from heavy wood, so it was obviously a planned theft by a number of individuals and a truck.

It seems sad that people are drawn to steal basic facilities at a Club that provides a great place to relax and unwind during a busy working week.

If anyone has any information regarding the disappearance of the tables, I’m sure the RUC would greatly appreciate it.

That’s a lot of effort and risk to steal something that isn’t worth that much. There’s no shortage of dead$hits out there.

must be the work of smokers 😉

lol chubb are useless.

Chubb security patrol a lot of the Govt buildings in that area. Maybe management should contact them?

The management have moved the remaining tables so there are three on each side now (usually four on each side). Unfortunately tables remain missing…

Just had a coffee there and there was the usual number of tables. They were however being painted at the time. So either they got them back or had a couple of spares.
