According to news.com.au, because of 2020 Summit and Ballon Festival, Canberra’s accommodation will be pretty tight for 19 Apr weekend. Upcoming Beijing Olympic Torch Relay will also bring hundreds of nationwide pro-Tibet protesters, and hundreds of pro-China Torch Relay audiences. So thank Beijing Olympic for bringing good business to Canberra.

Fill the balloons with the 2020 summiteers and the hotels with spectators. Billet the Tibetans protesters with the Liberals and have them eat worms. Finally and reroute the torch through the Glenloch interchange to Margo Kingston’s house.

Did Johnboy get an invite ?

I thought she was from Sydney, and only came down here every now and again to haunt the place and get angry at the Liberals?

I hope Margo “I hate you all” Kingston comes along to add her views to the 2020 mixing pot.

Doesn’t she already live here?

I bet The Worm turned when Kev saluted George though!

Are they inviting The Worm to Canberra for the 2020 yabberfest; after all, isn’t he/she’s a very good friend of Keving007?

I hope Margo “I hate you all” Kingston comes along to add her views to the 2020 mixing pot.

Today in the paper they suggested that Canberrans should take in 2020 people into our spare rooms.

Told yers, they’d be asking us to billet the 20/20 people, having neglected to ensure there were enough hotel beds that weekend. Basic.

Dahling Nathanael, you don’t think the schweeties at the summit will be staying as far away as suburban Macgregor where the plebs are! Garran and Aranda might squeak in, but that will already be the hardship billets and the slim pickings!

True – plus it’s on the wrong side of the Glenloch Interchange … speaking of which, has anything about that been mentioned here yet?

The Crikey website suggested the Rudd administration was seeking to hold an auction, bidding to accommodate your favorite celebrity in order to rein in costs.

Observe the date of publication.

Not a bad idea, however.

Ha ha – we can’t buy blocks big enough to build houses with spare rooms! I went out to Macgregor yesterday to see how they’re progressing with the new suburb extension (I put down a deposit on a block last year) … it’s looking very cramped.

Today in the paper they suggested that Canberrans should take in 2020 people into our spare rooms.

Meanwhile they scheme to cut back our jobs.

We also have the BarCampCanberra business and technology conference happening that weekend (http://barcamp.org/BarCampCanberra1) – which although won’t be attracting the numbers that 2020 and the Torch Relay will it still means it’s going to be a pain for us to find accommodation for people coming from interstate for BarCamp.
