Nominations open for ACT Partners in Prevention Awards

ACT Partners in Prevention Awards aim to recognise strategies, projects, and activities that help create an awareness of gendered violence, or help prevent violence and sexual assault against women and children in our community.

Nominations opened today, so if you know of a group on individual deserving you might want to put their name down.

There are five award categories including community, education, media, sport and the workplace.

Nominations for the awards are open for two months. Nominations may be submitted to the ACT Office for Women from today until Friday 1 November.

Sounds like a laudable project but who on earth came up with the gobbledigook “awareness of gendered violence”. Use plain English you fools. Violence should be prevented – does it really matter which gender is initiating the violence ?? The language is so obscure that I had to read the article 3 times before I could understand it.
