Non-floating Floriade

By Kerces 6 October 2005 0

Earlier this week I wrote about having been to Floriade and how I had been told the large gaps in the garden beds were because of them washing away in the rain.

I have since been reliably further informed that actually only a few bits of the beds washed away. The other large gaps without tulips are mostly caused by the tulips not coming up which is, I think, a fairly common problem. The reason for them not coming up could be to do with the ground having been so wet or because there was an attempt to save money by using a different soil mix or possibly because of something else altogether. And I must say it did look like there were more flowers (not tulips though) out today than on the weekend.

Anyway, the promised photos are below. This first one shows the marvellousness of the bits that have worked.

This second one shows a section of one of the beds where the tulips haven’t come up.
