Not news but lyrics – Toes Touch The Sea

By Thumper 21 July 2005 3

My guitarist wrote this really cool ballad the other day about where he grew up. Can you guess where? Its in Australia.

Toes touch the sea (Hunstone)

Smoke stacks rise to cloud the sky
murky river flows
ships wait silently just off shore
to sail in and unload

And this place is a part of me, as I never knew
but it couldn’t sustain me so I had to go
Since I went away I keep on dreaming
and I live for the day
when my toes touch the sea

Now the steel works are gone but the workers stay on
with nothing to do
their jobs no longer remain
so they join the cue

(And this place….)

Apartments now stand on the very same land
where warehouses once stood
with cash to be made from the real estate dream
than from shipping in goods

(And this place….)

What’s Your opinion?

you are quite correct. The Gong in fact.

I like the lyrics. Kind of whimsical, and yet yearning for the past.

Wish I could write stuff like that. I just write nice melodies with throw away lyrics….
