The following in from the ESA indicate a busy day in O’Connor:
1:55pm Friday 27 August 2010 – Man trapped after single vehicle mva in O’Connor ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire Brigade are in attendance at a single vehicle accident on the corner of MacArthur Avenue and David Street O’Connor.
One male currently trapped inside the vehicle being stabilised by intensive care paramedics while firefighters work to extricate him from the wreckage.
2:55pm Friday 27 August 2010 – Update on mva at O’Connor Firefighters have freed the man from the wreckage after cutting the roof off the vehicle.
ACT Ambulance Service has transported the 25 year old to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition with suspected head and chest injuries.
A second car now believed to be involved in the accident was discovered further along MacArthur Avenue but the female occupant did not require transport to hospital.
3:05pm Friday 27 August 2010 – House fire quickly extinguished in O’Connor Firefighters have quickly extinguished a house fire in O’Connor this afternoon.
The ACT Fire Brigade was alerted to the blaze in Miller Street just after 2:30pm and responded with three fire pumpers.
Crews arrived to find a room at the back of the property well alight. It was quickly put out limiting the damage caused.
Two occupants of the house safely evacuated themselves before firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
