ACT Policing’s Territory Investigations Group is investigating a serious assault at the Academy nightclub in the early hours of Friday 15th of December which resulted in a 22-year-old man losing the sight in his left eye.

The incident occurred about 2.45am, after an earlier altercation in which a male had been ejected from the club. It is alleged that this male returned a short time later and assaulted the victim by smashing a glass into his left eye. The victim was transported to The Canberra Hospital where emergency surgery failed to preserve the man’s vision.

The alleged offender in the assault is described as being approximately 28 years of age, 180cm (5’11”) tall, solid build, fair skin and short light coloured wavy/curly hair. The alleged offender was described as wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Any witnesses to the assault, or anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the alleged offender are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Welcome to Sydney!

I love the vibrant nite life.

phew, I was about 2 mins walk from there, infact we were heading there at that moment, but chicken gourmet hunger got hold.

It was a strange thing that night, places seemed to be closing rather early.
