Oh, and there was an election over the border yesterday

No real surprises but Iemma/Labor retained power in NSW yesterday. Only surprising thing for me was that they suffered a 3% swing against them, nothing like the 12% swing the Libs needed but I expected a increased majority considering how poor the Libs seemed to come across. Maybe people are working out majority Governments with “mandates” are bad news whatever side of politics they’re on. The ABC has a run down of the results here.

Locally it looks like Pru Goward (LIB) will just scrap in over the independant Paul Stephenson in Goulburn with the incumbents both safely retaining their seats in Burrinjuck (NAT) and Monaro (ALP).

Yesterday I saw a dude wearing a Tshirt that said “Vote 1 Laberal”.

So I will.

is it just me or is iemma a terrible public speaker? I saw one of his campaign ads a couple of weeks ago and took me a little while to work out I wasn’t watching comedy channel.

I have met both of these dames, often, and either would make for a good MP…and I don’t care on which side of the political divide.

Neither of them struck me as in any way crooked, which is more than can be said for some pollies.

There is a big difference between Pru and Maxine. Maxine has always been a ABC hack while Pru has had many life and work experiences.

Ahh,

More violations of the Trade Practices Act….

As I have said time and time again, The Liberal party is not a Liberal Party ™, and the ALP id not an ALP ™. When will the stupid sheep figure that out???

Maxine always was ‘working’ for the ALP – just some of it wasn’t paid. Pru has taken the Libs on before, and won (1990 school closures – Weetangera – if memory serves me correctly).

There’s the difference.

i dont think pru has been a journo for quite some time…

bit of a difference.

it will be interesting to see how the marginals fared.

Monaro’s a fairly safe labour seat, I would have thought (although I didn’t vote for them)…

Oh, she can probably go back to working for the Federal libs – no, she wouldn’t be welcome running for any kind of elected government office here, but fortunately there’s a whole heap of unelected posts she can sit in with the rest of the liberal’s mates club…

She might still scrape in.
Is she still after our water?

The next question is where will Pru go? She’s not real welcome back here in Canberra.

I heard that Goward was set to go down on preferences?

Pretty solid result of Labor in Monaro.

Funny isn’t it – former ABC presenter Maxine McKew was roasted for putting her hat in the ring, but former ABC journalist Pru Goward is treated quite differently…
